IN UNION WITH DIVINE LOVE
Day 113

Message from Padre Pio
During the course of the day, when you are unable to do anything else, call on Jesus, even in the midst of all your occupations...

Reflection
Am I familiar with the beautiful practice of making short ejaculatory prayers during the day?

Scriptural Reading
Psalm 104:30-31,33-35
When you send forth your breath, they are created, and you renew the face of the earth. May the glory of the Lord endure forever; may the Lord be glad in these works! ... I will sing to the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God while I live. May my theme be pleasing to God; I will rejoice in the Lord. May sinners vanish from the earth, and the wicked be no more. Bless the Lord, my soul! Hallelujah!

Prayer
Mighty Savior, in honor of you and our Blessed Mother, may I pray frequently for myself and for the poor souls in purgatory: Lord Jesus, Mother Mary, I love you, save souls! Amen.

IN UNION WITH DIVINE LOVE
Day 112

Message from Padre Pio
If you are not granted the ability to stay a long time in prayer... you must not be discouraged. As long as you receive Jesus every morning, you must consider yourself extremely fortunate.

Reflection
Have I come to the point of despising others for disturbing my prayer time?

Scriptural Reading
Romans 8:38-39
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor present things, nor future things, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Prayer
Great Lord, guard me from being swayed from true homage; let me realize that I still have to spend some time to live in this world, but let me also realize that now I am not of the world. Amen.

IN UNION WITH DIVINE LOVE
Day 111

Message from Padre Pio
I approve of your work for gaining souls for Jesus. By all means, receive Holy Communion for the Holy Father's intentions.

Reflection
Is it not a beautiful devotion to receive Holy Communion with the prayer that the blessings intended for the communicant be given for the spiritual needs of others?

Scriptural Reading
Mark 1:16-17
As he passed by the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting their nets into the sea; they were fishermen. Jesus said to them, "Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men."

Prayer
My sweet Lord Jesus, may it be my passion to win souls for you, just as you have always found a way to win my soul. May it be my mission to care for them, just as you are always here to look after me. Amen.

IN UNION WITH DIVINE LOVE
Day 110

Message from Padre Pio
...what a good thing it is to stay close to him on the mount of his glory! ... Contrary to our every merit, we are on the steps of Tabor; and we must have a firm determination to love and serve his divine goodness well.

Reflection
Is it not more tranquil now?

Scriptural Reading
Matthew 17:2,5-7
And he was transfigured before them; his face shone like the sun and his clothes became white as light. ... While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud cast a shadow over them, then from the cloud came a voice that said, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him." When the disciples heard this, they fell prostrate and were very much afraid. But Jesus came and touched them, saying, "Rise, and do not be afraid."

Prayer
My Lord, many of us may be bewildered by your Transfiguration, by your holy countenance suddenly becoming pure light. But I rejoice in you, for you have shown us, by your most compassionate Heart, the true glory that is to come. Amen.

IN UNION WITH DIVINE LOVE
Day 109

Message from Padre Pio
I never cease to implore blessings for you from Jesus, and to beg the Lord to transform you totally in him.

Reflection
After having prayed so much for myself, is it not time I now pray for others?

Scriptural Reading
Luke 11:5-10
And he said to them, "Suppose one of you has a friend to whom he goes at midnight and says, 'Friend, lend me three loaves of bread, for a friend of mine has arrived at my house from a journey and I have nothing to offer him.' and he says in reply from within, 'Do not bother me; the door has already been locked and my children and I are already in bed. I cannot get up to give you anything.' I tell you, if he does not get up to give him the loaves because of their friendship, he will get up to give him whatever he needs because of his persistence. And I tell you, ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened."

Prayer
Almighty Lord, may you give us all—my family, friends, and even those who to this day abuse your love—the gift of your grace and light, that every day we may see clearly the depth of your love. Amen.

IN UNION WITH DIVINE LOVE
Day 108

Message from Padre Pio
Know that the saints were always mocked by the world and the worldly, but even so they placed the world and its maxims under their feet.

Reflection
Am I prepared to follow the hard path of the saints?

Scriptural Reading
Psalm 15:1-3
Lord, who may abide in your tent? Who may dwell on your holy mountain? Whoever walks without blame, doing what is right, speaking truth from the heart; who does not slander a neighbor, does no harm to another, never defames a friend.

Prayer
O my kind Jesus Christ, may humiliation for your sake be sweeter than the praises of the world! Amen.

IN UNION WITH DIVINE LOVE
Day 107

Message from Padre Pio
Always be faithful to God in observing the promises you made him, and pay no attention to the mocking of the foolish.

Reflection
Who do I think is more foolish: he who tries hard to savor a life that lasts sixty or seventy years; or he who tries hard to be worthy of the gift of a life that lasts forever?

Scriptural Reading
Psalm 39:6-8
You have given my days a very short span; my life is as nothing before you. All mortals are but a breath. Mere phantoms, we go our way; mere vapor, our restless pursuits; we heap up stores without knowing for whom. And now, Lord, what future do I have? You are my only hope.

Prayer
Loving Father, you know it is easy for me to make promises but you also know that I am too weak to keep them. Make me strong to do my best, for I know that you are happy with one weak soul trying to do his best than a hundred strong souls who hardly make an effort to become a little better. Amen.
