Reflection
Doesn't our modern world continue to promise happiness? bigger cars, larger houses, fancier gadgetry, more graphic entertainment, and all the means to know about everything else in the world? But why have we become more insensitive and dull, having more health problems, smaller homes, and more loneliness?

Scriptural Reading
1 John 2:15-17
Do not love the world or the things of the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, sensual lust, enticement of the eyes, and a pretentious life, is not from the Father but is from the world. Yet the world and its enticement are passing away. But whoever does the will of God remains forever.

Prayer
Sweet Spirit of God, lead me from the allure of all these false pleasures and into the true joy of your kingdom where you live and reign with the Father and the Son, forever and ever. Amen.
